KCR 15.6-Inch Handhels TV,DVB-T2 Tuner,Built in battery,Power adapter and 12Volt car charger,AV Input,HDMI Input,USB Slot,Remote Control,Freeview TV If you have a modern largish laptop that you take with you on your travels then you probably won't need a small TV like this as it'll do everything this can do and more. But not everyone has a laptop and no everyone takes them away with them. The emphasis on this 15.6" TV is its portability, due to it being so small. It's nicely made and has no frills, just a simple to use TV with minimal inputs. The picture quality is very good despite only being 720p HD, which is mainly due to the smaller screen size. Programmes and movies look crisp, sharp and colourful. Sound-wise it's pretty much what you'd expect on something so small.. the sound is there and is adequate for what it is, nothing more nothing less. There are 3 main inputs, HDMI, AV and USB, meaning you can plug in other devices such as Firesticks or DVD/Blu Ray players as well as run films etc directly from a USB memory stick. It'll even play music but the tiny speakers won't do it any justice. But it has a headphone jack so a good set of headphones or even a portable speaker attached and you're away. So you have plenty of options as to what you can watch and how you can watch it. This set has a built in DVB tuner so you can access Freeview if you have a decent signal. A small portable aerial is included but unless you're in a very strong signal area the reception and amount of channels you can receive is very hit and miss. But if you have a decent external aerial you can access then you'll be good to go with hundreds of channels. Scanning for channels and swapping between inputs can be done with the buttons on the set itself or by using the included remote control. Another selling point of this TV is the multiple power sources. As well as a mains lead this can also be powered by a car battery by using the supplied adapter. This set is also rechargeable making it a truly portable and wire free device, but please not a full charge will only provide up to 2 hours of use, which is pretty poor in my opinion and wouldn't even see you through one average length movie. Considering how much charge a laptop can hold it's surprising why this TV offers so little, especially as it's a very simple piece of tech in comparison. But there you go, it is what it is. Another thing I feel lets the set down a little is the pull out stand. Ok, the stand works and props the TV up at an angle for viewing but I would have preferred just a simple central stand. If you're after a very portable small TV that has some decent features and viewing options, especially something to take camping or use in a caravan then this is a perfectly viable option. When it's up and running it looks great and is pretty handy to have on your travels.

So once you switch on the small LED tv you go straight into the setup menu, basically, you choose your country of origin and then it goes straight to tuning in your channels ... I knew the supplied aerial would be of no use, so instead I hooked up the TV to my outdoor aerial and had to restore to factory settings to repeat the tunning procedure... Bingo after a good few minutes over 100 channels were ready to use... So using the supplied remote I scrolled through all the channels till I got to the HD offerings of the main 5 channels and I have to say I was well impressed the PQ was excellent clean clear and detailed ... I also hooked up a 4K MAX Firestick again this came in beautifully vibrant and clear, the only problem is that the Firestick needs its own power source so I do not see how this could be used in a Car or camping unless you have a motorhome with plenty of power sockets... You can also use your own content via a USB stick. The sound is very small in scope but this is a small screen and you have the option to use headphones via the 3.5 mm port on the tv... In all the DVB tuner tuned in 9 HD channels the exact same as my TVs do... If we are going to judge the TV as purely in-home use I would give it 5 stars as a on the go 3 stars as it really depends if you can get the supplied aerial to work and have enough power points to plug a tv and Firestick ln. The Tv comes with all the accessories needed and the manual is comprehensive and easy to follow.

The Investigator

The TV arrives in a Cardboard Box. Inside we find the TV Set in a Plastic Bag. There is another re-sealable Plastic Bag which contains 2 x AAA Batteries, A Adaptor to plug the TV into a Car, Three Lead Red Yellow White RCA to 3.5” Plug. There is a White Cardboard Box inside the TV Box which contains a Flat Remote Control in a Plastic Bag, A Mains Adapter also in a Plastic Bag. There is also a Small Antenna in a Plastic Bag too which comes with A Small Stand. Looking at the TV Set itself. It is pretty Flat. It cannot be much more than 1 Inch Wide. On the Back we find 7 Buttons which are OK, Vol+, Vol-, CH-, CH+, Menu and Source. There is a Puny Metal Stand Built into the TV Set itself. There is a Black Label which says “DVB T2 TFT LCD COLOUR TELEVISION MODEL TV-16 POWER DC 12V 2A MADE IN CHINA”. On One Side of TV we find a USB Socket. On the other side we find RF/UHF/Antenna Socket, We find a HDMI Socket, We Find an AV Input. We find a Headphone Socket. We find a Power Switch. We find a Power Socket. Since this is a DVB T2 TV, this means it won’t be able to be directly be used with Cable or Safelight directly, but through a Set Top Box you could still use it, if there is a HDMI output. You get a 68 Page Instruction Manual in another Plastic Bag in Three Languages. 21 Pages are in English. First 2 Pages are Warnings. Page 3 is Contents of the Box. On Page 4 it says there are Several Buttons underneath the TV Set. Well, I cannot see them. The Buttons are Back, Forward, Menu, Down, Up, Enter and Input. Page 5 talk about the Sockets I have already mentioned. Page 7 describes the Remote Control. This looks different to the Remote Control included. The Configuration of the Buttons are slightly different. Page 8 and 9 Talk about the Buttons on the Remote The Buttons on the Remote in the Box are Power, Mute, Numeric Key Pad, Blank, Repeat, P Adjust, Picture, Title, Sleep, Audio, Info, Up, Down, Left, Right, OK,. The TV is capable of displaying Photos(JPG), Playing Music(MP3), and Playing Videos on a USB Drive(MPEG, XVID, AVC, MP4, H.264, MKV HEVC(H.285)FLV) Spec: TFT LCD. Resolution: 1280 x 800. Removable Memory Support: Memory Card USB. Input Connections: AV Composite Audio/Video(3.5mm). HDTV Signal Support: DVB T2. DVB T2 Frequency: 474.00MHZ – 858.00MHZ. Power Consumption: 18 Watts. Speaker Output Power: 4W*2(8W Total). Power: Rechargeable Lithium Polymer Battery 7.4V 3000 mAh. AC100-240V Power Adapter. DC Car Powercord. The last page of the Instructions (Page 21) offers Tips if you are having issues with getting a Picture I am on my third set of Batteries before I find a set that the Remote Control deems good enough. You switch the set on, I have the Antenna, plugged into the USB Socket for Power and the Aerial Socket(RF/UHF). It asks you for Language and Country and then proceeds to Scan for Stations. It finds 0 Analogue. 75 DTV. I am surprised to find it starts showing TV straightaway. I am surprised the Tiny Aerial can pick up anything in the not great position I have set it up in. While the stations are tuning in you get a square on the screen in Dark and Light Blue with the number of TV Stations(Analogue) 0, DTV(Digital) 92, Radio 25 and Data. Not sure what “Data” is. The Programme Guide also appears as a Dark and Light Blue Square this shows you what is currently on about 19 Stations at a time. If you go into the Settings, you get a much larger Dark Purple Square, which nearly fills the Screen, this gives you control over Picture(Picture Mode, Contrast, Brightness, Color(yes Color not COLOUR), Sharpness, Tint, Color(COLOUR) Temperature, Aspect Ratio, Noise Reduction) Sound(Sound Mode, Treble, Bass, Balance, Auto Volume, Surround Sound) Time(Off Time, On Time, Sleep Timer, Auto Sleeep, Time Zone) Option(OSD Language, Audio Languages, Subtitle Language, Hearing Impaired, PVR File System, Restore Factory Default, HDMI CEC) Lock(Set Password, Block Program, Parental Guidance) Channel(Auto Tuning, DTV Manual Tuning, ATV Manual Tuning, Programme Edit, Signal Information, 5V Antenna Power, LCN Type) I have tried to use the TV in the Kitchen, after moving the Aerial around a few times I managed to get Reception through I had issues changing the Station at times for reason I am not sure about. Sound is Clear. I have tried to explore it’s multimedia playing abilities without success thus far. I have tried the main NTFS Hard Drive I use which has MP4 and MP3 Files on it and through the TV is able to see the Folders. Whatever I try to play results in “All Files Unsupported” or “Unsupported File”. This was a 1 Terabyte Drive. It doesn’t seem to like either the Size of the Drive or the Format of the Drive. So this is disappointing. You are presented with an Icon Based Menu which gives you the option of PHOTO, Music, Movie or TEXT. I have not been able to open an EBook either. I try my usual test files of various Video and Audio Formats which are on a FAT 32 32 GB Micro SD Card, played through a USB Adapter and suddenly I find it can play nearly everything. It can show BMP, PNG, JPH Images. It can play MP3 Files at 320 Kbps and WMA VBR Files. And do it through an interface which offers a spectrum analyser effect while it plays, a side bar of controls, including Repeat ALL, Repeat A to B. The Sound Quality is not fantastic but then it is coming from tiny built in Speakers/ built into a flat screen TV. It can also play MP4, AVI, FLV, MPEG, WMV Files. I use a game console as a signal generator to test the HDMI Input Socket and this works just fine. You can use it as a monitor for a console no problem so there should also be no issues plugging a DVD Player in either. I use another plug and console as a signal generator to test the AV Input and this works fine too through the Picture seemed unfocused and rather soft. It was still usable. Going through the Remote Buttons. Adjust Button offers options of Panorama, Auto, 4:3, 16:9, Zoom 1, Zoom 2, and Just Scan. Picture which has options of Standard, Soft, User, Vivid. Subtitles – English if available. Sleep Timer options of 10, 20, 30, 60, 90, 120, 180, 240 Mins. INFO Button displays information about current show on current channel. PVR – Free Record Limit 6 Hour. I don’t understand this. Does this mean the TV can store 6 Hours or you can only record 6 Hours total with an external device? Mode – DTV, ATV, AV, HDMI, USB. Search – UK and Turkey Tuning Options appear. List – This produces a Channel List. Text – Teletext if there is any available anywhere any more. TV/Radio – This swaps to the Channel 700 where the digital Radio Services are. EPG –This is a small box on the screen, not full screen. FAV – Favourite Channel List. Running the TV on it’s internal Battery with the Aerial also plugged into the TV’s USB for Power (if you unplug the USB the Picture goes Blank on the TV) used in this way the Internal Battery Powered the TV for 2 Hours and 40 Mins. I am finding that I am using the TV with the Remote Battery Back off Because the Remote keeps stopping working and the problem appears to be the Batteries have moved slightly out of position – enough to stop the Remote working. The Sound through Headphones is Stereo. Especially obvious when on the Radio Stations. The Stations are a bit weird. BBC 1 Is not the First Station. That is 101. I don’t think all the Freeview Stations are here but that may be due to Antenna. I cannot get the PVR(Recording) Function to work. This is odd. Because I have been able to play Video and MP3 off USB. I have tried a 64 GB and a Sandisk 16 GB Brand New Flash Drives. It gives you options of Check Drive. Format Drive into FAT32 and something else I can’t quite make out. And there is something about adjusting free space from 1 to 6 Hours but in any case I cannot get the TV to Record and I do not have a Blank Hard Drive I can try. Through I have already Tried a Non-Blank Hard Drive and it seemed to have Issues accessing that too so maybe it doesn’t like NTFS. I cannot see why a Sandisk would not be fast enough for the TV. So, I cannot get the Recording Functionality to work. So I also cannot test if a Recording is playable outside of the TV. Small Portable TV. Probably great for Camping or Student Purposes. Through they probably would want a larger Screen. A TV which has a built in Battery, can play Video MP4 and MP3 Files. And in theory Books too through I have been unable to get a Book on Screen Yet. It has a HDMI and 3.5” AV Inputs so can be used with a DVD Player or Set Top Box or Game Consoles. Please not through there is no SCART Input on this TV. It would also be nice if the EPG filled the Screen instead of being a tiny Box. It can in theory record to USB through I have been unable to get this functionality to work. As a TV it works, through using the tiny little amplified aerial provided, picture can break up quite often and you may need to change the position of the Aerial depending upon what station you want to watch which will probably get tiresome and the wires do seem a bit messy. With a Lead to Mains, 2 Leads for Antenna and Antenna Power. And of course if you are trying to record on the TV, you cannot use the TV as power source, you will also need a Battery to plug the Aerial into in order to free up the USB Socket. Small Portable TV Suitable For Camping And Students.
