When charging NiMH batteries it is important that charging stops when the battery is full, otherwise the batteries are very quickly damaged. I did some tests and could not seem to get this 'charger' to stop charging. So I took it apart and studied the circuit. This confirms that this device isn't a battery charger but simply a 34063api boost converter. The '6V' version is set to boost to 9V. The red LED will illuminate as soon as any current is drawn. There is no green LED. There's no real attempt at current limiting and it runs fairly hot at the claimed 250ma. In summary - never use this to charge NiMH batteries. It might suffice to charge NiCd batteries at a push though.
